Tropical Storm Leslie formed Wednesday night in the Atlantic as Hurricane Kirk continued to strengthen, according to the National Hurricane Center.
About 1,370 miles west-northwest of the Cabo Verde Islands, Kirk is moving northwest at 17 mph. Maximum sustained winds are 125 mph.

Kirk is expected to become a Category 4 hurricane by Friday, according to NHC. Forecasters predict its maximum sustained winds will reach 130 mph over the open Atlantic.
No coastal watches or warnings are in effect at this time.
Tropical Storm Leslie

Tropical Storm Leslie formed in the Atlantic on Wednesday, trailing behind Hurricane Kirk.
Environmental conditions are conducive for further development of this system, according to NHC. It is expected to become a hurricane in a couple of days.
Leslie is located about 490 miles southwest of the southernmost Cabo Verde Islands with winds of 40 mph. It’s moving at 6 mph.
Gulf of Mexico

A disturbance in the southwestern Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico could form into a Tropical Depression over the weekend, according to the NHC.
Environmental conditions could support the gradual development of this disturbance as it moves fully into the Gulf.
The chance of development in the next seven days is 30%.
