TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Highway Patrol has closed the Howard Frankland Bridge ahead of Hurricane Helene.

FHP said the closure comes as a result of high winds and storm surges.

“Motorists should seek alternate travel routes and if not absolutely necessary remain off the highways,” FHP wrote in a statement.
