Disturbance in the Caribbean has 80% chance of formation

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A disturbance in the Caribbean Sea has a high chance of development in the next seven days, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The NHC said the area has a 40% chance of forming within the next 48 hours and an 80% chance of forming within the next seven days.

The National Hurricane Center is also monitoring an area of low pressure near Puerto Rico. Slow development is possible during the next few days as it moves west-northwestward near the Greater Antilles.

According to NHC, the system is expected to be absorbed into the disturbance over the Caribbean. The chance of development in the next 48 hours is 10%, and in the next seven days it is 10%.

In the North Atlantic, a storm-force non-tropical disturbance is located around 450 miles west of the western Azores.

Subtropical development is possible in the next few days as the disturbance moves eastward. The chance of development in the next 48 hours is 10%, and in the next seven days it is 10%.
