Near record heat and a few spotty showers

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – With Hurricane Rafael heading west in the Gulf of Mexico, we feel the tropical air across Florida. Highs reach the mid-upper 80s this afternoon, and the humidity will make it feel even hotter.

While there will be extra clouds around through the day, the rain chance is just 30%. Watch for a quick passing shower or two. It’s drier tomorrow with just a 10% chance.

It stays warm into the weekend with highs running 5-10 degrees above normal. The humidity will be slightly lower but still elevated for this time of year.

We don’t see a strong cold front coming through in the next 8 days, so highs stay in the low-mid 80s with small chances of rain.

Hurricane Rafael’s forecast track continues to head west toward Texas and possibly Mexico, but it should weaken over the weekend.
