TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The first of two celebrations of life for South Florida men’s basketball head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim is being held Sunday.

The service is hosted by Kennesaw State University, where Abdur-Rahim coached prior to his time at USF.

The celebration is taking place inside Kennesaw State’s Convocation Center at 5 p.m.

Another celebration is set to take place in Tampa on November 2 at 11 a.m. at the Yuengling Center on USF’s campus. That service will be open to the public.

In lieu of flowers, Abdur-Rahim’s family requested that anyone who wanted to honor him donate to the Future Foundation, a non-profit organization.
