TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking to get back on track after four straight losses against the Giants, who swapped starting quarterbacks after losing five in a row.

For the Bucs, quarterback Baker Mayfield says making explosive plays and the expected return of Mike Evans will be the start of turning this season around.

“Gotta try and find ways to get explosives, but if those explosive plays are not there, just check it down and play the next down,” said Mayfield.

Head coach Todd Bowles said on Wednesday that Mike Evans is trending in the right direction and could play on Sunday.

“His presence, even in the huddle, and having a veteran like that who’s obviously one of the best to do, is really nice. Mike’s a leader on this team,” said Bucs offensive lineman Graham Barton.

The Bucs defense is preparing for Tommy DeVito, who was named starting quarterback this week after Daniel Jones was benched. The 2023 undrafted free agent went 3-3 as a rookie starter last season.

“He’s very good at seeing the short stuff coming, seeing the blitz coming. He’s really good about getting out of harm’s way. He’s going to be something to deal with,” said Bowles.
