TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered a devastating 41-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday, but on Tuesday, Head Coach Todd Bowles was left with two gaping holes on the offense.

Star wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin each left Monday night’s game with injuries.

Godwin suffered a severe ankle injury in the late stages of the game and is preparing to have surgery that will end his regular season.

Evans left the game in the second quarter after aggravating a hamstring injury that kept him out of most of the week.

In their exclusive ‘Bucs with Bowles’ interview, Bowles defended the decision to play Godwin and the bulk of the Bucs starting offense at the end of a game that was a 10-point deficit.

Evans’ injury was noticeable on his touchdown catch in the first quarter, but Bowles said Evans was able to continue playing, ultimately leaving the game after contact on the leg by the Ravens defender falling on him.

The loss is the second this season for the Bucs in a game where the offense put up at least 30 points.

Communication issues impacted the defense, according to Bowles, as Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson finished the game with five touchdown passes and just five incompletions. Ravens Running Back Derrick Henry finished the game with 169 yards rushing, including an 81-yard run to help put the game almost out of reach.

The Bucs will return to practice quickly. A short week is ahead before their NFC South rematch with the Atlanta Falcons, with first place in the division on the line.
