VENICE, Fla. (WFLA) – Venice police were asking residents to stay put and not go out on the roadways Thursday morning. They said it’s not safe to drive at this time.
First responders and the City’s Tactical First-In Teams have been out since 3 a.m. assessing the area.
The teams are finding debris in the roadway, downed powerlines, and traffic signals out.
The City of Venice, Venice Fire Rescue, and the Venice Police Department said they will not check on damages or flooding to individual homes, properties, communities, or businesses.
The following streets are flooded:
- N. Indies Circle
- Tarpon Center Dr.
- The Esplanade N.
- Flamingo Dr.
- Villas Dr. & Gardenia Dr.
- Harbor Dr. at Sorrento St.
- Alhambra Rd.
- Castile St.
Police say down powerlines, nails, debris and ponding in roads could cause serious problems for you or your car. “Please don’t leave where you currently are — STAY PUT and stay safe! This not only protects you and your family but also the first responders who are on the roads.”
