TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Lakeland man was found guilty of offenses connected to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, when supporters of then-President Donald Trump attempted to disrupt Congress certifying the results of the 2020 election.
A federal jury found Thomas Osborne, 41, guilty in a Washington, D.C. courtroom on Thursday.
Osborne was charged with a felony offense of obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder and misdemeanor offenses of entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building.
Court documents state Osborne traveled to D.C. with a group from Lakeland to attend the “Stop the Steal” rally. He made his way onto Capitol grounds, where he climbed a set of bleachers to reach an upper terrace area.

A struggle ensued when he stopped at a police line and grabbed an officer’s baton, trying to take it from them.
Osborne was arrested on February 22, 2024, in Lakeland. He is due to be sentenced on March 18, 2025.
