CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — A 17-year-old boy was arrested over the weekend for threatening to kill a Pinellas County Commissioner, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

The Clearwater teen threatened 42-year-old Chris Latvala through a social media comment on X, formerly known as Twitter, on a post about the new Tampa Bay Rays stadium.

“I live 5 minutes from him I’m gonna go to his house and blow his head off with my short-barreled,” the teen wrote.

According to officials, the teen tagged Latvala in the comment, who then reported it to law enforcement.

The teen turned himself in to detectives on Saturday at the Pinellas County Juvenile Assessment Center and was charged with one count of written threats to kill.

This remains an ongoing investigation.
