LARGO, Fla. (WFLA) — A school crossing guard was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle Thursday morning, according to police.
At 8:38 a.m., a Largo Police Department school crossing guard was helping an adult cross the intersection of Clearwater Largo Road and 8th Ave Northwest.
Officials said that’s when a driver in a Chrysler 300 traveling eastbound on 8th Avenue Northwest struck the crossing guard.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the driver remained on scene and was issued a citation. They showed no signs of impairment.
