SPRING HILL, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in Spring Hill involving a Pinellas County deputy.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, on Tuesday around 5:23 a.m., a propane tanker truck was backing up across Hudson Avenue into a driveway when the deputy, identified as Dakota Dellechiaie, collided with the tanker.

Dellechiaie’s patrol vehicle was wedged underneath the trailer, FHP said. He was enroute to begin a shift at the time of the crash, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

The deputy was transported to a hospital with serious head injuries and is in stable condition. He was hired by PCSO in 2019 and has four children, PSCO said.

The driver of the tanker truck was uninjured.
