CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — Piles of debris lined Clearwater Beach just one week after Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida, resulting in devastating impacts across Tampa Bay.

On Friday morning, a Clearwater Beach resident said she took a drive, showing the roads lined with dumpsters full of storm debris, fragments of destroyed structures, mounds of sand, and other miscellaneous trash.

“Many roads still closed. It looks like a war zone, almost unrecognizable,” she wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Continued prayers to all affected and to the volunteers helping.”

Pinellas County officials said there are several locations for commercial haulers to dump storm debris:

  • GFL Environmental | 1755 20th Ave. SE, Largo | (727) 588-9529
  • Sarnago & Sons | 1741 N. Keene Road, Clearwater | (727) 446-4909
  • Waste Management |12950 40th St., Clearwater | (727) 572-8779

Residents in unincorporated Pinellas can dump their debris at the location below:

  • Central |13600 Icot Boulevard, Clearwater | 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“It will take weeks, if not months to clear the debris,” Pinellas County Director of Communications, Barbra Hernandez said in a press conference Friday morning.
