CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — As residents across Tampa Bay continue to recover from Helene’s and Milton’s impacts, a new mural is being painted to convey a message of hope.
Multimedia Artist Chad Mize at Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach will work on the colorful mural throughout this week.
“I always thought Clearwater reminds me of growing up in the 80’s,” he said. “So the color palette kind of has a little 80’s vibe to it.”
Mize drew inspiration from items he saw in gift shops when he visited Clearwater Beach.
The mural design will also incorporate elements of when Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach lit up their hotel rooms in the shape of a heart during the storms.
“I think it’s just optimistic and bright and colorful,” Mize said. “Art can heal and also inspire.”
The mural is expected to take about one and a half to two weeks to complete.
