CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — For businesses and homeowners on Clearwater Beach, the back-to-back hurricanes, Helene and Milton, were simply devastating.

Storm surge and sand filled buildings, streets and pools.

Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill on Clearwater Beach had just closed for renovations on Aug. 12 before the hurricanes hit.

Then, they suffered damage during the storms.

“Everybody’s equipment got almost completely ruined everywhere, so we had to get all new equipment, if we had wooden barstools on the floor, those had to get thrown out because those got wet with the contaminated water.”

The business remained closed for 117 days.

“So, it was pretty big, a lot of cleaning, a lot of electricity issues,” Tiemeier said. “They had to do some rewiring and stuff like that.”

The storms did more than damage the business. They also greatly impacted more than 400 people who work at Frenchy’s restaurants.

” I think we had at least 35 employees in the company that lost their apartments and their job at the same time,” Tiemeier said.

On Monday, at 1:00 p.m., the business opened its doors again for business.

“The staff is very happy to have people back, and its normal now a little bit,” Tiemeier said.
