NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A woman accused of kicking an infant multiple times has been arrested after she uploaded a video of the abuse online, officials said.
According to an arrest report, officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) were sent to an apartment complex in the 300 block of Rio Vista Drive just before 3 a.m. on Sunday to respond to a “child abuse call for service.”
Authorities reported they were told that 24-year-old Jatina Ballard kicked her seven-month-old in the head and that the child had been crying for approximately 30 minutes.
When officers arrived at the apartment complex, they located the person who called to report the abuse and were shown video footage of the incident.
The video allegedly showed Ballard kick the infant “multiple times.” Police added the video appeared to have been recorded by Ballard and then posted online.
After viewing the video, officers took Ballard into custody without incident. According to an arrest report, police were able to identify her as the suspect seen in the video since she had “the exact same clothing on.”
Although the baby didn’t have any visible injuries, the Nashville Fire Department (NFD) reportedly responded to the scene and transported the seven-month-old to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Ballard was charged with felony child abuse of a child aged eight or less. She is being held in Metro Jail on a $10,000 bond.
