GALVESTON, Texas (KIAH) — A mother who reportedly threw her 17-month-old daughter from a hotel balcony in Galveston, Texas has been charged with capital murder.

Channel Yonko, 30, of Houston, intentionally dropped her toddler, Hannah, on Wednesday, court documents said. The child was found that morning on the road between a grocery store and a hotel, according to NBC affiliate KPRC.

Police said the toddler was still alive when she was found, but later died from her injuries at a nearby hospital.

Hannah was also found with three stab wounds. Court documents said the child sustained traumatic injuries that were inflicted by her mother, along with injuries from the fall.

Shortly after police found the child, the mom was seen leaving the location where the toddler’s body was found, crying and asking for help.

Channel was then taken to the Galveston Police Department to be questioned.

Surveillance video obtained by officials showed Channel pushing a stroller in the hotel lobby, with the child’s foot visibly sticking out. Then, another video showed the child falling from what appeared to be the hotel balcony and landing in the grass, before she rolled onto the sidewalk.

On Thursday, a judge denied the mother’s bond in court. Child protective services confirmed they were previously involved with Channel, but it didn’t involve Hannah.

A mural has formed near where the child was found – in the middle of 59th Street.
