TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Hundreds of thousands remain without power across several counties, days after Hurricane Milton. Monday morning, crews were out working to get the lights back on from Citrus County to Sarasota County.
“Our crews are converging on some of the hardest hit areas that have been impacted not only by Hurricane Milton but also by Hurricane Helene. These jobs require two to three crews with eight to twelve men and women who are working tirelessly to get the lights back on for our customers,” Florida Power and Lights spokesperson, Marshall Hastings said.
Estimated restoration timeline, as of Monday morning:
- Pasco County (TECO customers) – Monday
- Polk County (TECO customers) – Tuesday
- Hillsborough County (TECO customers) – Thursday
- Lakeland Electric customers – Wednesday
- Manatee County (FP&L customers) – Tuesday
- Sarasota County (FP&L customers) – Tuesday
Crews say the restoration process is long and tedious. “We understand it’s difficult to be without power for any period of time. We appreciate our customer’s patience as our crews work in really challenging conditions to get the lights back on. These hot Florida days are not easy to work in but, these men and women are not going to stop until every customer’s power is restored,” described Hastings.
