BRADENTON, Fla. (WFLA) — Additional charges have been filed for the suspected drunken driver who crashed into a vehicle, killing a mother of two in Bradenton last month, according to police.
Just before 11 p.m. on Nov. 2, 25-year-old Cesar Navarrete was traveling westbound on Cortez Road at 115 mph.
At the intersection of 43rd Street West, he ran a red light, slamming into a Chevrolet Equinox, sawing the vehicle in half. Officers said Navarrete did not attempt to brake or avoid the collision.
The driver of the Equinox, 35-year-old Sergio Larcher De Brito got injured, and his passenger, 37-year-old Sara Danielle Holmes was killed.
A DUI investigation revealed that Navarrete has a blood alcohol concentration of .289, which is over three times the legal limit.
Navarrete is now being charged with vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, DUI property damage and/or personal injury, and driving with a suspended, revoked, or canceled license and causing serious bodily injury or death.
He continues to be held without bond in the Manatee County Jail. His arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 27.
