MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Drivers speeding through school zones in Manatee County could face fines of $100 for violating the speed limit.
According to the Manatee County Public Safety Department, drivers who are going 10 mph or more over the posted speed limit in school zones will get a $100 violation.
Effective Nov. 1, speed detection cameras will be monitoring the speeds during school zone flashing times, or at any time during the school day.
The following schools throughout the county have active speed-detection cameras:
- Annie Lucy Williams Elementary School
- Bayshore Elementary School
- BD Gullett Elementary/ Dr. Mona Jain Middle Schools
- Blackburn Elementary School
- Blanch H. Daughtery Elementary School
- Braden River Elementary/Braden River Middle
- Electa Lee Magnet Middle School
- Florine J. Abel Elementary School
- Gene Witt Elementary School
- James Tillman Elementary School
- Louise R. Johnson K-8 School of International Studies
- Martha B. King Middle School
- Myakka Elementary School
- Oneco Elementary School
- Palm View K-8
- Palma Sola Elementary School
- Robert Willis Elementary School
- Samoset Elementary School
- Southeast High School
- Stewart Elementary School
- Tara Elementary School
- Virgil Mills Elementary/Buffalo Creek Middle
