TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Multiple locations saw wind gusts over 100 mph when Hurricane Milton slammed the Tampa Bay area as a powerful major hurricane Wednesday, according to preliminary data.
The largest gust recorded was 106 mph on Anna Maria Island.
A buoy in the Egmont Channel, near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, noted a 105 mph gust.

Wind gusts of 102 and 101 were recorded at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport and Albert Whitted Airport, respectively.

Hillsborough County
A 93 mph wind gust was recorded in Tampa at 11:06 p.m.
Pinellas County
A 101 mph wind gust was recorded at Albert Whitted Airport at 10:29 p.m.
Manatee County
A 102 mph wind gust was recorded at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport at 9:34 p.m.
Sarasota County
An 83 mph wind gust was recorded in Sarasota at 9:55 p.m.
Polk County
An 81 mph wind gust was recorded in Griffin at 1:24 a.m.
Pasco County
An 88 mph wind gust was recorded in Zephyrhills at 11:50 p.m.
Hernando County
A 76 mph wind gust was recorded in Brooksville at 7:32 p.m.
Citrus County
A 58 mph wind gust was recorded in Inverness at 10:55 p.m.
Highlands County
A 77 mph wind gust was recorded at the Avon Park Air Force Range at 12:22 a.m.
Hardee County
A 64 mph wind gust was recorded in Bowling Green at 9:55 p.m.
