SPRING HILL, Fla. (WFLA) — A Spring Hill man killed his brother before taking his own life on Black Friday, Hernando County deputies said.

According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, its emergency communications center got a 911 call at about 11:25 a.m. from Anthony Coyle, 39.

Coyle told dispatch that he just shot his brother and would be waiting outside his home for deputies before ending the call.

The sheriff’s office said when deputies arrived, they spoke with the suspect’s mother who told them her sons Anthony and Robert Coyle were in a “heated” argument over Anthony using his brother’s car.

According to investigators, the argument escalated when Anthony Coyle got a gun and shot the victim.

The suspect’s mother told authorities after Anthony Coyle called 911, he said “he didn’t want to spend the rest of his life in jail and proceeded to shoot himself,” the sheriff’s office said.

Both men died of their injuries. Detectives have classified the incident as a murder-suicide.
