Spring Hill driver speeds off after hitting teen walking to school: FHP

SPRING HILL, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver who struck a Spring Hill teenager while he was walking to school on Thursday.

The crash happened at the intersection of Monarch Street and Mariner Boulevard, which is near Frank W. Springstead High School, at 8:30 a.m.

The 16-year-old boy was crossing the street when he was struck by a silver SUV. The driver did not stop at a stop sign before hitting the teenager, according to FHP.

The boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. The driver left the area heading north.
