SPRING HILL, Fla. (WFLA) — A young kangaroo found itself a long way from its mother’s pouch on Wednesday.

Hernando County officials asked residents to keep an eye out for a kangaroo that went missing in the area.

Animal enforcement officers searched the area near J.D. Floyd Elementary School in Spring Hill, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post.

The kangaroo was four months old and wearing a blue harness and a diaper. It was later “detained” Plantation Palms, HCSO said.
