HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A woman and a child were taken to a hospital following a crash on I-75.
On Saturday, Hernando County Fire Rescue responded to the crash near mile marker 296 just after noon.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Freightliner semi-truck driven by a 55-year-old Cape Coral man blew a tire while driving in the southbound lanes.
When the driver exited to the side of the roadway, he struck a Hyundai Elantra, carrying a 33-year-old Clermont woman and a young boy, parked on the shoulder.
Troopers said the Hyundai spun into the grass.
Crews transported one of the victims by helicopter to the hospital, while the other was taken by ground. It was not disclosed which of the two victims in the Hyundai was airlifted.
