Teen ejected, killed after vehicle goes airborne twice

ZOLFO SPRINGS, Fla. (WFLA) — A 19-year-old man is dead after troopers said he was ejected from his vehicle after it went airborne twice on Thursday night.

At about 10:10 p.m., the teen was driving eastbound on SR-64, approaching Merle Langford Road when he traveled into the grass shoulder, coming out of a left-hand curve in the road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The teen traveled into a ditch and struck a concrete culvert. The collision sent his vehicle airborne, crashing into a ditch south of SR-64.

FHP said the car went airborne again, flipping into another ditch. The vehicle eventually came to a rest on the driveway of the New Hope Cemetery.

The teen was ejected from the car when it overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by EMS.

Troopers are still investigating the crash.
