CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. (WFLA) — A Crystal River man was arrested on Friday for animal cruelty after a citizen noticed an injured dog in the front seat of a truck, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Deputies responded to a residence on West Oak Street in Crystal River about a violent individual, identified as 25-year-old Luke Adams.
According to deputies, Adam shot his dog in the back of the neck with a crossbow in a wooded area behind his home and ripped the arrow out, leaving the tip embedded in the dog’s neck.
Adams then placed the injured dog in the front seat of his truck and went inside the house before someone noticed the wounded dog in the truck, deputies said.
Citrus County Animal Control Officers arrived on the scene and transported the dog for immediate treatment.
Adams has been charged with one count of felony animal cruelty.
