TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) —A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle early Tuesday morning on South Howard Avenue, according to Tampa Police Department

Police responded to the 400 block of South Howard Avenue around 2:46 a.m. in response to the crash.

Investigators stated that the 27-year-old driver of a 2013 Chevrolet HD2500 truck, was exiting a shopping plaza when he hit the 35-year-old pedestrian.

According to TPD, the truck failed to come to a complete stop before entering the roadway.

The pedestrian was standing near the edge of the roadway at the time of the collision.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased, according to TPD.

The driver remained on scene. This remains an ongoing investigation.
