TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Those passing through downtown Tampa this week may have noticed something different about Tampa’s famous “Beer Can” building.
On top of the building, officially known as Rivergate Tower, is a white lowercase ‘h’ with a blue background.

The ‘h’ is part of a new sign going on the building for SouthState Bank.
The bank announced in May that it leased space inside the building for its regional headquarters, complete with putting its name on the side of the building. The building is owned by Banyan Street Capital.
“I’m thrilled that SouthState will be part of the downtown Tampa skyline, with our name atop the iconic Rivergate Tower,” Angel Gonzalez, the division president for the West Florida Region, said in a statement.
The SouthState headquarters will be located on the 29th floor and will take up about 17,000-square feet of space for its commercial banking team, a training and meeting space, and a board meeting room.

“We are extremely pleased to expand our relationship with SouthState Bank and to have their name adorn this celebrated Tampa icon,” Banyan Street Capital president of office Zac Gruber said in a statement.
The bank hopes to move into its new office space in early 2025.
