TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A water main break on North Dale Mabry has closed the outer southbound lane of traffic, according to the City of Tampa.

Starting at 1 p.m. between West Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and West Alva Street, the lane will be shut down until repairs can be made. Barricades and signs will be present to help with traffic flow.

Video sent in by a WFLA viewer shows the water bursting out of the ground, as a police cruiser blocks the area.

“The completion of the work with a return to normal traffic patterns is expected by 5 p.m., Tuesday, December 10,” the city said. “The Tampa Water Department may need to return at a later date to complete additional work.”

According to the Florida Department of Health, water main breaks may occur when there are changes in water pressure.
