Hillsborough Education Foundation to benefit during WFLA’s Kindness Day

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — News Channel 8’s annual Kindness Day event is only a few days away.

Viewers are encouraged to stop by the WFLA studios at 200 S. Parker St. in Tampa this Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. to donate toys, teddy bears, food, blood, and school supplies.

The drive will benefit the Hillsborough Education Foundation, which has a store where teachers in the district can go to and choose the supplies they need for their classrooms completely free of cost.

“Pencils, pens, folders, things like that or anything else you may have. Those are the top things that we would need,” Hillsborough Education Foundation Director of Development Laura Grucza said. “Being the 7th largest school district in the nation, we need help. 60% of our students are economically challenged.”
