TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Two men were arrested after a thorough investigation regarding the theft of multiple motorcycles and trailers, according to Hillsborough County deputies.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies witnessed Ethan Schmidt, 23, and Daniel Schmidt, 53, attempt to hotwire a motorcycle they had removed from the bed of their truck Monday.
Upon further investigation, authorities said they discovered that the motorcycle had been stolen from Pinellas County back in September, and its plate was from a trailer that had been stolen as well.
Both men had outstanding warrants which led to their arrest.

During a search of the suspect’s residence on Wednesday, another stolen motorcycle and missing E-bike were recovered, according to deputies, along with two stolen trailers from Pinellas and Pasco Counties.
Deputies said the Pinellas trailer contained nearly $20,000 worth of tools that had been with it when it was taken.
On Thursday, an additional motorcycle that had been missing since Nov. 7 was discovered during a search of Daniel Schmidt’s girlfriend’s house, according to investigators.
Both were arrested on numerous charges including grand theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and criminal mischief of $1,000 or more.
