TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Four people have been arrested in connection to a burglary following Hurricane Milton, Tampa Police announced on Thursday.
On Oct. 10, officers responded to a burglary alarm at Hibbett Sports, located at 2525 E. Hillsborough Ave. On scene, officers discovered the storefront had been rammed by a vehicle and the store had been burglarized, investigators said.
Detectives said thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise had been stolen, including jerseys, shoes, and clothing.
Tampa Police said an investigation revealed the items had been sold from a residence on N. 28th St.
On Wednesday, officers began surveillance of the home. Darryl Hill, 24, was arrested during a traffic stop a short distance away and stolen items — including a black MLB White Sox baseball cap, pink Nike sweatshirt, and a pair of white/black size 9.5 Air Jordan sneakers — were all recovered during the stop.
On Thursday, surveillance of the residence led to the arrest of Dalanish Weaver, 24, and Deontae Hill, 32, after they were observed discarding stolen items from the home. Weaver is Darryl’s girlfriend and Deontae is his brother, according to officials.
A search warrant for the residence was obtained and a “significant amount” of the stolen merchandise was recovered, authorities said. Additionally, Deontae and Darryl’s mother, Cheryl Hill, 61, was arrested.
Police said the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with more information is asked to call the Tampa Police Department at 813-231-6130.
