TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Mike Alstott Family Foundation donated Thanksgiving meals to all 46 Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) stations for the sixth consecutive year.

For firefighters working Thanksgiving, the foundation has donated complete Thanksgiving dinners to the firehouses that act as their second homes.

“For firefighters working on Thanksgiving, the firehouse becomes a second home, and their fellow crew members become family,” Hillsborough County officials said in a statement. “These shared holiday meals are an important tradition, made even more meaningful thanks to the generosity of the Alstott Family Foundation. By providing groceries, the Foundation saves firefighters the time and effort of shopping and ensures they can focus on serving the community and celebrating with their fire family.”

The foundation distributed everything needed for a traditional holiday feast including turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables, gravy, and pie.

Nicknamed the “A-Train,” Mike Alstott played his entire career for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1996 to 2006 and helped the Bucs win a Super Bowl during the team’s 2002 season.
