MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) — A 66-year-old woman fell overboard from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship on Tuesday evening, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

The woman was traveling on the Allure of the Seas when she fell overboard at approximately 9:40 p.m.

The ship was 17 miles north of Nassau Bahamas.

“Our crew immediately launched a search and rescue effort and is working with local authorities. We are also providing support and assistance to the guest’s family during this difficult time. To respect the privacy of our guest’s family, we have no additional details to share,” a Royal Caribbean spokesperson said.

According to USCG, the Royal Bahamas Defense Force is the lead agency in this case, USCG has diverted an HC-144 airplane crew and a MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter crew to assist in the search.

Crews from both the RBDF and USCG are still searching for the woman.

Allure of the Seas departed from Miami on Oct. 21 to Nassau Bahamas and then CocoCay before arriving back in Miami on Oct. 25.

Aboard Allure of the Seas were a few hundred Taylor Swift fans who left Miami as part of a fan-led cruise group, “In My Cruise Era.” Marvelous Mouse Travels hosted the event working with Royal Caribbean to host private events for the group, according to the group’s website.
