FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WFLA) — A trio of suspects, dressed in costumes, were caught on surveillance camera driving over a man sitting on a curb, killing him.
The incident happened last Sunday just after 2 a.m. in the 100 block of Northwest First Street in Fort Lauderdale.
The video shows the suspects’ Jeep heading down a road, taking a right turn, before a second video cuts to the trio walking down the block in their costumes after a night out, to return to the vehicle.
Another angle shows a person, identified as 73-year-old Esperant Lahens, taking a seat on a curb in front of where the suspects’ Jeep was parked, NBC affiliate WTVJ reported.
As the suspects go to leave, the driver runs over the man with its front right tire, before running him over again with the back tire. The Jeep then continued to drive off.
Due to the graphic nature of the content, WFLA edited the video to remove the body being run over.
WTVJ said the victim was found dead at around 6:25 a.m. that morning by a passerby, who then called 911.
“When the driver pulled forward to exit the parking spot, the vehicle drove over the pedestrian, who was laying against the curb,” police said. “It is unknown if the driver was aware of the pedestrian at the time of the incident.”
According to Fort Lauderdale police, the suspects are still wanted.
Anyone with information or who can identify the suspects is encouraged to contact Traffic Homicide Investigator Russell Brown at 954-828-5754, or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
