TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — President Joe Biden has declared a state of emergency in Florida and ordered Federal assistance to supplement State and local response efforts.
The declaration authorizes the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate relief efforts and provide assistance for required emergency measures.
Emergency protective measures and direct Federal assistance will be provided at 75 percent Federal funding for the following counties:
Brevard, Broward, Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, Desoto, Dixie, Flagler, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Indian River, Lake, Lee, Levy, Manatee, Marion, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Putnam, Sarasota, Seminole, St. Johns, St. Lucie, Sumter, and Volusia.
Direct Federal assistance will also be provided at 75 percent Federal funding for Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Duval, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Madison, Nassau, Suwannee, Taylor, and Union counties.
FEMA will coordinate Federal recovery operations in the affected areas.
