TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — A Jacksonville woman claimed a $1 million prize she won from a scratch-off she purchased at a Publix, the Florida Lottery announced Friday.

Anna Newson, 62, got the winning ticket from the LOTERIA™ GRANDE Scratch-Off game. She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.

Officials said Newson bought her ticket for $5 from the Publix on Merrill Road in Jacksonville. The store received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.

The scratch-off game offers over $62.1 million in cash prizes, including six top prizes of $1 million. The Florida Lottery’s website showed there were only two $1 million prizes left as of Friday, Oct. 25.

Featuring more than 4.4 million winning tickets, customers have an about 1-in-3.97 chance of taking home some prize money.

Since inception, the Florida Lottery said scratch-off games have awarded more than $63.1 billion in prizes and generated more than $19.24 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
