CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida TikTok influencer was arrested last week after she was accused of stealing $500 worth of items from Target and posting the evidence to social media.
Cape Coral police said Marlena Velez, 22, filmed herself getting ready to go out and picking out items inside the store.
Her outfit matched security camera footage of the thief and the items shown in her videos matched those stolen from the store, according to police. An anonymous caller saw her videos and a police social media post asking to identify the thief, and contacted Cape Coral police.
Police said Velez, who has nearly 300,000 followers, also filmed herself placing the items inside the car after leaving the store.
She was charged with petit theft (more than $100, less than $750) and booked into the Lee County Jail.
