TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Emergency Shoulder Use is being implemented for those evacuating parts of Florida due to Hurricane Milton.
FDOT is implementing ESU along I-4 and portions of I-75 to help the flow of traffic.
On X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said ESU is active for the inside shoulder of I-4 eastbound from I-75 to Champions Gate and for I-75 northbound from I-4 to I-10.
The outside shoulder is for disabled vehicles only. Trucks and trailers are not allowed in the ESU lane.
More information about Emergency Shoulder Use can be found on FDOT’s website.
