(WHTM) — A North Carolina-based company has recalled hundreds of bags of dog treats due to potential Salmonella contamination.

According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Carolina Prime Pet, Inc. is recalling 400 16-ounce bags of dog treats called “Hollywood Feed Carolina Made Chicken Chips” because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The recalled “Hollywood Feed Carolina Made Chicken Chips” dog treats were distributed to Hollywood Feed stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

The treats were also available through online retailer www.hollywoodfeed.com

The FDA says the product comes in a 16-ounce purple and black bag marked with lot number 20051324L2 and an expiration date of 11/13/25.

The company notes this is the only lot number identified as potentially contaminated, and no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall thus far.

Consumers who purchased the recalled 16-ounce bags of “Hollywood Feed Carolina Made Chicken Chips” should stop using them.
