WATCH: SpaceX launches human spaceflight mission from Cape Canaveral

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (WFLA) — SpaceX targeted Saturday afternoon for a Falcon 9 launch of Dragon’s ninth operational human spaceflight mission (Crew-9).

Crew-9 took off at 1:17 p.m. from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station to the International Space Station (ISS). The first stage will land on Landing Zone 1 back at the space station.

During the crews time in space, they will conduct more than 200 scientific experiments and technology demonstrations “to prepare for human exploration beyond low-Earth orbit and to benefit humanity on Earth,” SpaceX said.

Previous launches from this mission include Crew-4, Ax-2 and Ax-3 missions to and from the ISS.

WFLA live streamed the launch, which can be viewed in the video player above.
