ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — St. Petersburg now has its first Black Fire Chief, Keith Watts, and he’s getting real on the Rooted in Progress podcast.
Back in October, Watts was named the new St. Pete Fire Rescue Chief. Watts has more than 30 years of experience in public safety and organizational management.
Watts joined SPFR in 2018 and played a major role in launching “Camp Ignite”— the first, all-female firefighting camp at St. Pete. It aims to empower teenaged girls and introduce them to the fire service.
On Rooted in Progress, Watts is laying out his plan for the city in this new role. He’s also getting personal with Rooted in Progress. Learn his favorite past time, local restaurant and a little about his upbringing.
