TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — From Halloween traditions to Homecoming season, we are wrapping up the month of October with a twofold episode.

On this Halloween, the Rooted in Progress team discusses celebrating the spooky holiday, growing up in the black community. Did you get to dress up or were you told to go to ‘Hallelujah Night’ at church? Also, is candy corn the chitterlings of Halloween candy? And why is Thriller no longer ranked in the top five Halloween songs?!

We couldn’t forget about our Historic Black Colleges and Universities. Homecoming season is underway at various campuses. This week, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University is having their homecoming. We know alumni return to party at FAMU and root on the Rattlers football team, but how did the celebration begin? Tune in to this episode to find out!
