The service dog that went missing from Chicago’s Logan Square in June has been found.
Bam Bam was found Tuesday night on the 5600 block of Milwaukee Avenue with no tags, police said.
The dog’s owner, Logan Square resident Angel Santiago, reunited with his beloved pet at the 16th district police station.
According to Chicago police, two individuals walked into the police station and dropped Bam Bam off. They did not give a statement and walked out.
“Thank you for doing that and for giving me back Bam Bam,” Santiago said of the individuals who dropped off the dog.
Bam Bam is Santiago’s service dog. He has glaucoma, Type 2 diabetes and is legally blind, and he says Bam Bam is key to his independence.
That all that changed on the morning of June 5 when someone tried to steal Bam Bam out of his backyard in Logan Square.
“I tried to hold one of the guys, it did not work, and Bam Bam was getting away. I have not stopped looking since then. Every day, every night, I walk. I fall a lot, but I learned how to fall and not hurt myself. I just want to get my dog back,” he said.
Because Santiago is blind, he was not able to see whether Bam Bam escaped or was stolen. However, he believes that Bam Bam was stolen.
His story touched the community, with strangers reaching out to assist and offering their help in finding Bam Bam.

Santiago said that Bam Bam wouldn’t sleep without the lights on, and that he anticipates it will take time before his best friend is back to his old self.
“We just need to get Bam Bam back to the way he used to be,” he said. “My heart is overwhelmed with all you people who helped me and prayed for his safe return, and I cannot say thank you enough.”
Santiago said that he’ll take some of the money from a GoFundMe account established to help in the search to start a program to aid individuals who are visually impaired.
