PLANT CITY, Fla. (WFLA) — Nov. 1 marks the beginning of Mexico’s Day of the Dead tradition which is when families celebrate and honor their loved ones.
Sanchez Farms Santa Maria in Plant City has been commemorating the annual tradition for about three years now with a festival.
When you drive up to the farm, you will see fields of orange and yellow marigolds.
“It was just stunning,” visitor Nitza Mejey said. “I was just amazed just driving up. It was beautiful.”
During Dia de los Muertos, the marigold is said to help guide the souls of loved ones who have passed back to their families.
“I have kids so for them to see this and know about their culture, it’s something beautiful to share with them,” Mejey said.
This weekend, visitors can expect music, dancing and several authentic Mexican food vendors.
Marigolds and traditional items are also available to buy.
Sanchez Farms Santa Maria is located at 1390 S. Forbes Road in Plant City.
Their festival is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
