Ty is a weekend evening anchor and weekday reporter. He mainly covers politics locally, statewide, and nationally.

He joined WFLA News Channel 8 in June 2024.

Ty comes to us from Asheville, North Carolina (market #36) where he served as a weeknight evening anchor and political reporter.

But Ty is no stranger to the Sunshine State. He previously worked at TV stations in Miami, Orlando, and Fort Myers. Before that, he worked in Monroe, Louisiana (Home to “Duck Dynasty”). Ty got his start in radio with NewsRadio 610 WIOD in Miami and as an intern with Florida Public Radio (WFSU-FM) in Tallahassee.

During his career, there have been several key moments. He has interviewed President Joe Biden one-on-one in 2020. He has been a reporter at dozens of former President Trump rallies. He has also covered tragic stories like the deadly mass shooting at Pulse Nightclub.

Ty was born and raised in Miami. He graduated from Florida State University in Tallahassee.

When Ty is not at work, you can find him working out, relaxing by the pool, reading, or trying to write screenplays.

Ty is always looking for GREAT organizations to volunteer with in the Tampa Bay area. Feel free to send him ideas. If you have story ideas, then please let him know. He accepts ALL ideas but there is an approval process. Lastly, if you need an emcee for an event, then let him know so he can ask permission from management.

Just so viewers and readers are aware, Ty strives for accuracy and fairness in this political climate. He wants to inform ALL viewers with information to help make their lives better. While inside the studio as an anchor, he knows the news can be tough to digest for many in the community. He hopes he can make you smile and giggle a few times in each newscast when it’s appropriate.
