TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ defense was preparing for every situation possible. Christian Izien had a stellar game against the Detroit Lions.

The safety had five solo tackles, nine total tackles and two passes defended.

“I think it was important for everybody to play together whether you’re playing your normal position or playing other positions but trusting the preparation and doing everything we need to,” safety Christian Izien said.

Izien, who was filling in for All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield Jr., was paired with veteran safety Jordan Whitehead in the defensive backfield

“Izzy is a baller. We knew that last year when we got him no matter where you put him you’re going to see him and he’s going to flash and he’s going to make some tackles and he’s going to make some plays,” Bucs head coach Todd Bowles said.

The Bucs will look to tackle rookie quarterback Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos at home on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
